The Copenhagen Wheel Is Bikings Next Big Invention

Copenhagen, Denmark is on point when it comes to biking, so it’s no surprise to see MIT’s Senseable City Lab unveil their Copenhagen Wheel at the Copenhagen Conference.

We can only assume that the wheel is based off the GreenWheel, but instead of using the biker’s pedal power to collect a charge they’ve opted for a regenerative braking system, which collects and stores power in the hub’s internal battery and then later uses it to power the motor and propel the rider along.  But unlike the GreenWheel the Copenhagen Wheel only kicks in when the system senses that the rider is struggling to create enough pedal power and keep the bike moving.

Oh, but it don’t stop there.  The Copenhagen Wheel also incorporates Bluetooth and transmits the rider’s data to a handle bar mounted cell phone, an iPhone in this case.  There distance, pace and other pertinent info is collected which can be shared with fellow riders, similar to Garmin’s devices.

lets a child carry his or her own booster seat with BoostApak

One of the prototypal thing that some parent learns is how to set up a thief seat, and how to plan when your toddlers have to move from automobile to car. Unfortunately, most thief seats are hard and bulky, and not easy to agitate around at all. I once had to take a rental automobile back with my son in it, and then had to walk bag retentive the thief seat. I’ve had more pleasant walks.

Fortunately, BoostApak have not exclusive figured discover a way to fold up a thief lead into a convenient backpack, and they have fashioned it so the child is the creature of charge for it. I suppose that “beast of burden” is a cruel term, but considering that most parents intend the job of carrying way too some things, it is good that the BoostApak has prefabricated their device to be put on little kids’ backs. There are times when kids actually want to help discover their parents, and this would be a good way to intend them involved.

The BoostApak is fashioned to ergonomically fit, or “to protect growing spines and encourage better posture”. It is good for children ages 4 to 11. You should be healthy to intend the BoostApak sometime in April, but there doesn’t seem to be a price. I conceive that it’s promulgation will be exclusive in the UK, for now.

We're not sure if an illuminated WiFi-detector window decal is more or less nerdy than the illuminated WiFi-detector T-shirt, but it's certainly cooler. Machine To Turn Your Office Paper Into Toilet Paper

Do you think that there is too much paper being wasted in your office? Well, the smart folks over in a Japanese company called Oriental have come up with a machine called White Goat. If you’re wondering what a machine with such a funny name does, it converts your normal paper into toilet paper. Just pop in about 40 sheets of paper, and wait for 30 minutes, and you’ll get a nice toilet roll for your efforts. The process involves shredding the paper, after which it is dissolved in water, thinned out, dried and wound into toilet rolls. Pretty cool. The company says it costs 10 Yen ($0.11) to churn out 1 roll, and regular usage of this machine will save up to 60 cedar trees annually. This would probably be a great machine to boost your eco credentials, though there is one snag: you might be cool with it being 1.8m tall and weighing 600kg, but it’ll be priced at $100,000 when it goes on sale in Japan this summer. Check out a video of it in action.

Wink Glasses Help Prevent Tired Screen Eye

I Have seen products in the past like the game thumb to help cut down video game sores, but this is the first I’m seeing about a pair of glasses that help your eyes blink during times of extended screen viewing or book reading.

When your eyes are focusing on a screen they automatically blink less, causing them more strain and dryness.  The Wink Glasses from Masunaga Optical force your to blink no matter how hard you fight the urge.

If you go 5 or more seconds without blinking, the transparent liquid crystal sensor attached to the frame of the glasses turns the lenses opaque, “naturally” making you blink.  After you do so, the glasses reset and clear.

At a price of $445, I can’t imagine any insurance would that cover this item.

Leather Beer Holster To Go Down In A Drunken Blaze Of Glory

For when you’re holding two or more beers already, fasten this raw, rough, and rugged leather holster to your upper thigh and you’re literally ready to tie, or strap one on.  It snaps into any standard belt and uses a nylon strap for adjusting around your junk.

$35 seems a bit pricey for this guy, but the look and feel of quality is definitely present.  Custom branding would have been a cool feature to help distinguish yours from your next door grilling drunk buddy down the street (or this one or this one), but you could always get the OutLaw Beer Holster instead.

Portable Fireplace from Shulte Design

Heat is never more "in demand" than during the winter season. And with the winter chill still in the air, most of us are probably wishing that we can stay in front of the fireplace where it's nice and warm and cozy. And thanks to Schultze Design, our wish is pretty much a reality right now.

Firebo-X is a portable fireplace designed for both indoor and outdoor use. When not in use, Firebo-X looks just like a simple box due to its sleek and compact design. Inside however, is a shiny stainless steel burner that creates a pleasantly snug fire. The cover or hood also doubles as a reflector once you put it up, making the fire look even more romantic. It comes with a low board and a matching rack.

Aside from its portability and sleek design, Firebo-X is also very eco-friendly. It uses liquid bio-ethanol that leaves no residues. Thus, aside from being romantic and cozy, Firebo-X's fire is clean.Storage is not a problem as well, since the box is only about 2 ft. long.

The Firebo-X is really an ingenious creation. It's perfect for small condos or houses. It livens up any room and make a lovely centerpiece for parties. Take it outside to keep warm during a moonlit cuddle.

The creators of this really swell gadget don't seem to have a definite price yet for it, but whatever the cost, well, it's one item that will sure make your place a trendy hot-spot.

Dyson Air Multiplier Bladeless Fan

Once in a while, you might see some new gadget that catches your eye and attention. There are certain gadgets that just seem to make you try to know about it more. The Dyson Air Multiplier may be such a device.

What makes the Dyson Air Multiplier quite interesting is that it is considered to be the first bladeless electric fan around. True, there was no gadget of note that has been marketed as a bladeless fan until the arrival of the Dyson Air Multiplier. That is why it has easily captured the imagination of some consumers that warranted more of their attention.

At first glance, the design of the Dyson Air Multiplier truly shows that it doesn't make use of any bladed part in order to create a blast of air typical of a conventional electric fan. But actually, the blade that creates it is creatively hidden inside the fan's base.

The ring design then creates some sort of an air vortex to produce the breeze that seemingly comes out of nowhere. The Dyson Air Multiplier is truly quite an interesting gadget to have at home. It may easily become a conversational piece for those who haven't seen anything like it. Its unique design may be the reason why its cheapest model comes at a steep price at around US$300. Too bad not a lot of people may be as interested with its price as with how it operates. It is available at the Dyson website for those who want to know more about it.

Spoon Scale

With baking, precision is absolutely vital. Measuring your wet ingredients and your dry ingredients with our new ultra-precise spoon scale. With two spoons included, you can scoop out just the right amount of sugar, or even 10-1 grams of salt! To get this level of precision, you’d normally need a separate scale, but we’ve combined two immensely useful kitchen gadgets into one, and we love dual-use devices in the kitchen.
