Nokia has been in the telecommunications industry for quite some time now, amassing great technology. They have been a bit of a wild card in the industry despite their years of experience, often venturing with products that are more or less novelty items that boggle the minds of tech experts and consumers alike. One thing remains constant however, despite the many odd ends that Nokia releases; they still make some of the most intriguingly amazing mobile phones.
Now, Nokia surprises the industry once again by releasing a product quite unlike anything they ever released before, a mini laptop. The Nokia Boklet 3G is a mini laptop with amazing laptop features with a few mobile phone qualities thrown in for good measure. But the true worth of this device lies in the fact that it is actually a great device.
3G in Your Laptop
Thanks to the fact that they are a mobile phone manufacturer, it is apparently easy for Nokia to integrate 3G technology into a mini laptop. This means as long as you have a compatible SIM card in the laptop slot, you can stay connected to 3G networks. It seems that 3G connectivity consumes a lot less power than wireless LAN since Nokia is promising users with 12 hours of continuous battery life.
They also put in an A-GPS transceiver and a bundled Ovi maps for good measure. These functionalities alone place the Booklet way ahead of other existing mini laptops in the market such as the MSI Wind and the Asus Eee. Granted that you probably will not be using this mini laptop as your in-car GPS device (that was GPS technology for over a decade ago, there more feasibly sized devices available now), the added feature is still pretty useful –particularly if you are just the passenger, or you are planning for a trip ahead of time. Either way, to see these features in any laptop and in particular, a mini laptop is still a welcome add-on.
Nokia Gets Windows 7
We will just make it clear, there is no confirmation that the high definition 10 inch display is a touch screen; which would have been pretty interesting since this mini laptop will be running the Windows 7 operating system. There are a lot of rumors about the supposed specs for the Booklet and Nokia has yet to confirm any, but any device that should be able to run Windows 7 without any problems means its got some pretty hardcore hardware under all that exterior; and speaking of exterior, this mini laptop folds to a slim 2cm, that means Nokia has also made full use of their downsizing logic to shrink all the powerful hardware into a nice slim package.

The Nokia Booklet 3G also has an HDMI output, which is an excellent choice over the more common DVi output port being used in most laptops. Nokia is making wise steps when it comes to the Booklet, HD is truly the future of all display technology and they know it and they are making sure that the Booklet will be ready for that time.
